What is the difference between the Lime Paint and the Mineral Paint?
Although both paints have a matte finish, there are important differences in texture and application. Lime Paint creates a soft, cloudy effect and is ideal for walls. This paint is applied in two coats with a block brush and gives a natural, soothing look to the room.
Mineral Paint by itself has a subtle grain and offers a luxurious appearance. This strong, quality paint is suitable for walls, ceilings and furniture. After applying it in two coats, you can lightly sand the surface for a smooth stucco look, achieving a sleek, sophisticated atmosphere in your interior.
-
What substrate should I have if I want to apply the Mineral Paint?
The ideal substrate for Mineral Paint is flat and dry so that the paint will show up best. Suitable substrates are freshly plastered walls, plaster or previously painted substrates. Mineral Paint can also be applied to wood or steel, if properly prepared. Do you have wallpaper as a substrate? That is also possible, as long as the wallpaper is suitable for paint application, such as fiberglass wallpaper or renovlies wallpaper. Do you have questions about your specific substrate? Feel free to contact us, we are happy to think with you!
-
When do you need primer and when do you not?
A primer is recommended for best results and is necessary on absorbent substrates such as freshly plastered walls or plaster. On previously painted surfaces, you do not need a primer and the Mineral Paint can be applied directly. Do you have a wooden or steel substrate? Then the Mineral Grip Primer is necessary to ensure good adhesion.
-
What surfaces is Mineral Primer suitable for?
Mineral Paint is versatile and suitable for walls, ceilings and furniture, such as cabinets, kitchen counters, kitchen cabinets, tables and more. In addition, you can also use it in damp indoor areas, excluding the shower corner.
-
What is the consumption of the Mineral Paint?
Approx. 1.5-2 m2 per liter (2 coats) Calculation: number of m2 : 2 = number of liters needed for 2 coats
-
Is the paint removable?
Yes, the paint is removable, even without a coating. However, we recommend using a coating if you apply the paint in a bathroom, toilet or on a wall behind the stove. This provides additional protection against moisture, dirt and wear.
-
How do I apply the Mineral Paint?
Option 1: With a block brush -cross left so you create a cloudy effect with grain texture
Option 2: Using a block brush -cross left and after it dries, sand the surface (by machine) with 220-grit paper for a stucco effect.
-
Can I also apply Mineral Paint to wood?
Yes this is possible, you should then first use the Mineral Grip Primer before applying the Mineral Paint. The Mineral Paint is suitable for furniture.
-
Is the Mineral Paint paint paintable?
A latex can be applied directly over the Mineral Paint, sanding and / or priming is not necessary.
-
Can Mineral Paint be applied to a rough surface such as Spachtelputz?
Yes, you can. However, keep in mind that the texture of the substrate will remain visible through the paint. Do you want a tight finish? Then it is better to smooth the wall with plaster first.
-
Can I apply your Mineral Paint over tiles?
Yes, you can. The tiles should be treated with Ardex R1C first: the first coat you fill the joints and the second coat you pull everything tight and flat. Then you apply 1 coat of Mineral Primer and then 2 coats of Mineral Paint for best results.
-
What should I do if a piece of the wall is broken or needed updating?
If a piece of the wall is broken or needs to be touched up, the defective piece should always be re-primed. If there is a coating on the wall, the entire area should be lightly sanded. Then you apply primer to the small piece and let it dry. After that, you primer the entire wall to achieve an even suction to prevent color difference. With Mineral Paint, however, you do not need to apply new primer; you can simply repaint the entire wall with 1 or 2 coats of paint. With Lime Paint, you apply 1 or 2 coats of Lime Paint after priming.
